He traveled over a millennium to find her, now he must fight to save them both.

Liv Fenrir thought she had it all. That is, until her boyfriend dumped her for Miami Barbie. As a prestigious biologist at the top of her profession, she takes a new job in tiny Afton, Wyoming to live in the woods and research her favorite animal—wolves. It seems like a no brainer, until she comes across a pack she can’t explain.

Brodi Sköll isn’t your ordinary wolf shifter. This time-traveling Viking has been searching for his fated mate for a millennia in order to overcome a Berserker curse placed on his family by a jealous god. Just when he is about to believe his search was a lost cause, a chance meeting in a small town gives him, and the pack a spark of hope. The only problem—she’s human.

Rushing against time to convince Liv she’s his, and the pack’s only hope, he must bring her into a world she never knew existed. Neither can dismiss their undeniable chemistry, but will it be enough to defeat the person determined to keep them apart?

An Excerpt from Berserker

“Not now!” Brodolf called to the gods for mercy, though they had never shown him any before. His shoulders continued to hunch, bones cracking, muscles growing and changing. “Kelda!” he roared, his voice contorting with the changing shape of his jaw.

Kelda threw her hands over the tortured man, chanting the ancient words that were the only thing standing between her Alpha and the curse that threatened to take over his body and his mind. If the Alpha was lost, so was the clan.

“Keep fighting, Alpha!” Kelda, the pack’s shaman screamed over the rising wind and the crack of lightning crossing the sky.

Brodolf threw his head back and howled, the sound long, loud and dripping with pain. Suddenly, he felt a pop, weak as a soap bubble, but a sign that he had won this round. They had once again beaten back the Berserker that lived within him. Slowly, his body righted itself until finally he was left lying on his side, naked and spent, upon the frozen ground. Kelda sat next to him, murmuring nonsense words and stroking his hair, giving him what comfort she could until he recovered and could sit up and wrap the blanket she held around his body.

“Thank you, Kelda,” he said, his voice still gravely from the partial shift and the howling.

Kelda nodded her head and turned her eyes to her Alpha, startlingly clear and green behind the black paint she wore around them. Sorrow tainted them. “It is getting close to your time, Alpha. It gets harder and harder to bring you back. We must redouble our efforts to find ‘the one’. “

Quotes

As if feeling her scrutiny, the Viking – yes that’s what he was, she could tell now – turned to meet her gaze. His eyes locked onto hers and she forgot how to breathe. Her body thrummed under his scrutiny. Her mind gave her a vague impression of danger, but she wasn’t afraid. She was drawn to him in a way she didn’t understand.

Brodi’s eyes shone with tears of relief with the words. He wouldn’t allow them to fall, not now with his true mate in front of him. He allowed himself a smile as he gave the shaman a small bow of respect. Then he looked again at Liv. He swore he felt a bolt of electricity shoot through his chest as their green and blue orbs met and locked together.

Mine! his wolf cried again, louder this time, but Brodi only smiled. Ours, he responded to his other half. “Our mate.

“What good does breaking the curse do for me?” Brand’s hands fisted at his side. “I’ll still be in the same position – under Brodi’s thumb.””You would rather he go Berserker?” Gunnar studied his brother’s unwavering expression and his eyes narrowed. “You would, wouldn’t you? You’d like to see him put down. Why, Brand? Do you want to be Alpha so badly that you would see our brother destroyed?”

Q&A With Dallas Ryan

What was the inspiration for this book?

Berserker is my first PNR. I started it for fun just to see if I could do it and it just kept growing! Now I’m working on Book Two!

What comes first for you: the title or the story?

It depends on the story. For Berserker, I came up with the title and it grew from there. In my previous series – The Gladewater Series- I pulled the titles from the stories

Speaking of titles, how did you come up with your book’s title?

I had an obsession with Vikings and tried to think of what a paranormal issue could be and, viola, Berserker curse. Then, of course, they became wolf shifters as well, because, why not?

Are you a planner or a pantster?

Total pantser. I may have a general idea of what I want to happen. Sometimes, I have an ending and have to figure out how to get there. Other times, I simply start writing and then have to figure out where my characters are taking me. Characters can be very annoying though and spend weeks not talking to me! That’s why I started Berserker. I was stuck on another book and started writing it to keep the writing juices flowing until my other characters started to speaking to me and Brodi and Liv decided they were more important!

What did you learn about yourself while writing this book?

I need to trust my instincts. As this genre was completely out of my comfort zone, I stayed nervous that it was actually crap the entire time but my Beta Tribe convinced me it wasn’t and to keep going! I hope everyone else agrees.

Obviously, this book is absolutely perfect, but what would you like to improve on as a writer in general?

I am trying to plot a bit more (the word gives me the heebie jeebies but I’m working on it!) I’ll never be one of those writers that make huge, detailed outlines before they start writing, but a full general idea of what’s to happen does help me write faster.

What do you want people to take away from your book?

I just hope it gives them a bit of escape and a good feeling while they’re reading it. I’m not trying to change lives. I just want people to enjoy my stories.

What do you love most about this book?

I love the family dynamics with the Sköll family as well as the growth of the relationship between Brodi and Liv.

Lastly, what do you want to say to your potential readers?

I hope they love my first PNR attempt, and, if you enjoy Brodi and Liv, I hope you’ll go back and check out my small town romance series – The Gladewater Series – Collide, Unbroken, Redeemed, A Gladewater Christmas and My Texas Valentine. Also, watch out for Book Two of The Sköll Series (title yet undetermined) – release planned for this fall – if my characters cooperate! Also, I soooo appreciate all reviews on Amazon and SM!
