Bridget Van der Eyk is an up and coming contemporary romance author – “10 Dates” is her debut novel. She lives in country NSW, Australia on a 5-acre property with her husband (Josh), 2 children (Zoe and Max), and 2 dogs (Kevin and Stella).
Apart from being published, her dream for “10 Dates” is to see it be turned into a Netflix mini-series starring Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles.
When Bridget is not working a full-time teaching job or binging Korean zombie shows on Netflix, she is busy writing her next novel. “3000 Words” (the sequel to “10 Dates” is due to release at the end of 2023).
An Excerpt from 10 Dates

“But you are right,” Wentworth continued, a smile forming at the corners of his mouth. “There is something that has crossed my mind.”
“Which is?” Libby asked.
She wasn’t sure whether she was going to like the next words to come out of his mouth. In fact, she was sure she wouldn’t.
“Ten dates,” Wentworth said.
“What?” Libby asked, her nose scrunching up at how cryptic his answer was.
“I don’t want any money from you,” Wentworth explained. “If you want me to keep my mouth shut, all you have to do is give me ten dates.”
“As in you want me to go on ten dates with you?” Libby clarified.
Wentworth nodded.
“In exchange for your silence, all I have to do is go on ten dates with you?” Libby asked again.
Wentworth nodded once more.
Q&A With Bridget Van Der Eyk
Obviously, the natural first question is to ask you what got you into writing. But my real question is: what made you decide to publish?
It took me so long to write 10 Dates that I really wanted to be able to finish the process with a finished paperback that I could put on my bookshelf with all my other favourites! Initially I had my heart set on traditionally publishing but the idea to retain full creative control of my book was too tempting, so I decided to self-publish. It was a steep learning curve but I learnt a lot about publishing from the whole process.
Did you ever publish the first book you wrote? If yes, tell us about it. If not, tell us about it anyway!
I’ve been writing since I was around 10 or 11 years old and I started a lot of books, but 10 Dates is actually the very first one that I’ve actually finished!
What does your writing set-up look like?
As long as I have my laptop I can write just about anywhere, whether it’s in bed, at my desk, or even outside if the weather is nice!
What is your favorite part of writing?
I used to be terrified of sharing my work with others, but I think that’s now my favourite part! Hearing what others have thought of my book is so rewarding, especially if they really loved it or it’s left some kind of impression on them.
If you could give any piece of advice to aspiring authors/writers, what would it be?
Get that first draft done! Even if it’s really rough and there are a whole bunch of spelling/grammatical errors, it’s the hardest part! Once the first draft is done, in my opinion, it’s all downhill from there in terms of formatting and editing.
When you’re not writing, what are you doing?
I have two kids (a 2 1/2 year old and a 2 month old) so I usually have my hands full! In my leisure time though, me and my husband love to watch Korean zombie shows on Netflix and I love to bake!
Lastly, give us some of that good ol’ shameless self-promo. What can we expect to see from you in the future?
If you like your love stories with a side of scandal and gossip, my books are for you! 10 Dates is available on Amazon worldwide in paperback, hardcover, ebook, and on kindle unlimited. The 10 Dates sequel – 3000 Words – is scheduled for release in December 2023 and ARC reviewer applications are currently open on my website (10datesnovel.com) for readers who would love to read a new romance and/or support an up-and-coming indie author.
