If you’ve been following me on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen some of my Nano updates. But, just in case, let’s talk about Nano and what it is.
What is Nano?
Nano, or NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) began in 1999 as a simple, straightforward way to challenge aspiring authors to write an entire novel (50,000 words) in a month. By reaching daily word counts (of approximately 1,667 words), it becomes quite doable! NaNoWriMo earned its non-profit status in 2006, and now proclaims its mission statement is:
provides tools, structure, community, and encouragement to help people find their voices, achieve creative goals, and build new worlds — on and off the page.
NaNoWriMo
As someone who has been participating in Nano since 2011, it’s become one of the most anticipated parts of the year for me. I look forward to it. It’s a month of just me, my laptop, several mugs of tea/coffee and seemingly endless creativity. Nevermind, community.
Anyway, onto why you’re really here.
