“Tea Time: Tales for Any Taste” by Carrie O’Leary

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A dear friend of mine recommended this anthology to me shortly before I went on vacation. I loaded it up on my Kindle as fast as I could and convinced myself that I would get to it somehow, someway, while I was trawling the streets of New Orleans.

As I’m sure you can imagine, that was a foolish notion. I did not, in fact, get to this little beauty. Not until my plane landed, and I was laid up for a week with a travel hangover.

This anthology is exactly what it advertises: tales for any taste. I was surprised at the variety of genres that were depicted. Sci-fi, Fantasy, Mystery. You name it, it was featured in these pages.

Carrie O’Leary is, for lack of a better title, a wordsmith. I don’t recall reading a piece and feeling more connected with the author than I did with her. I felt like I knew her — like I was living her life experiences alongside her. Despite the fantastical stories and the different genres, I felt like I was reading pages from her life story. The writing was witty at times, heartrending at others.

Frankly, O’Leary is underrated and deserves far more attention than she’s already garnered.

I am so grateful for this recommendation. Carrie O’Leary certainly has earned a fan for life!
