Not too long ago, I reviewed Tea Time: Tales for Any Taste by Carrie O’Leary. I couldn’t help but sing its praises. It was the perfect, cozy anthology I didn’t even know I needed. When the opportunity came to review the extended edition, you best believe I jumped at it.
As the name implies, the extended edition is… well, extended. There are more short stories and poems to sink our teeth into.
My original praise of O’Leary stands: she is a hidden gem I am ecstatic to have found, whose writing is not only evocative but beautiful. These stories, while not holding many commonalities thematically, are all woven together by gorgeous writing and a uniquely candid voice. It’s (in my opinion) impossible to read these stories and not feel like you’ve gotten to know her. I celebrated and hurt alongside her. I laughed and felt my heart fill.
From sci-fi to horror to mythological retellings and quirky little snippets about our furry companions, there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you haven’t yet picked up Tea Time, I encourage you to do so. It’s the perfect read for anyone looking for a quick read to enjoy with a hot cup of tea.
You can find Carrie O’Leary: Goodreads, and Amazon.
