Review: The Blood Witch by Ivy Asher

Rating: 5 out of 5.

When I tell you that this story haunted me — that this book plagued me from my TBR — I need you to believe me. The burning desperation I felt to return to this series was just so, so much.

If you read my review of the first book in the Osseous Chronicles, The Bone Witch, you know that I was all but falling all over myself for this story. You’d know that I found Lenni charming, and Rogan infuriating. You’d know that the cliffhanger ending sat with me like sandpaper in my butt crack (oh yeah, I went there). I told myself that I would be a good Ivy and wait until I read some other things before diving head first into this series. I had ARCs to do, and Betas to help with. I had my own writing to get to. I would be good, I would be good.

And I was. I was quite good, actually. I managed to put off reading the second installment of the Osseous Chronicles until early January (I read the first book in October). I don’t want to spoil anything for you, my friends. But now that I’ve finished, the feeling is back. I want to throw myself headfirst into the third installment. BUT I WILL BE GOOD! I WILL BE GOOD.

Keen to know why I won’t shut up about this series? Good, I’m glad you asked. Because I literally cannot shut up about it.

Lennox Osseous, after having been tricked by the hunky douche-canoe named Rogan Kendrick finds herself in a bit of hot water. Following one hell of a cliffhanger ending, we’re thrown immediately into the mystery of not only what happened to Rogan’s brother — but what happened to the rest of the Osteomancers. The Order is something of a protector and a hindrance as they dive deeper into the mystery. Lenni feels trapped, unsure of who to trust. A painful, daily, reminder of Rogan’s betrayal — the person she wants to trust the most.

I know you’ve already seen the rating, so you know what I’m going to say. I loved this book. The same praises I had for the first book apply to this one — the dialogue, the characters, the characterization. I loved the plot line, the pacing, and the development. I loved the twists, the turns. The writing was magnificent. If I wasn’t already a fan of Ivy Asher, I certainly would be now.
