Review: “Blaire’s Decision” by Remy Fisher

My Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Blaire’s Decision” is Remy Fisher’s debut novella, and first in the BlackRock Valley series. And boy, does it pack a punch. It is a lovely start for this writer and definitely has left me wanting more.

“Blaire’s Decision” focuses on Blaire, our heroine and her two love interests. She’s torn between them, unsure of who she should give her future. Ben, her once-was lover who left her with no explanation years before, or Erica, the woman she has built a new life with — who helped heal her.

From the first page, you’re drawn into a spicy scene. The story does not cool down from there! Remy Fisher’s promises of providing her readers “sweet and sexy” have certainly been met.

You follow Blaire through the ups and downs of her conundrum, leaving the reader in suspense as to who will be Blaire’s decision. I found myself rooting for one of her love interests with the same unhinged, blind fanaticism better suited a football tailgate than leisure reading. Rest assured, if I hadn’t already slipped into my pajamas to enjoy this novella I would have been chanting their name. I was in suspense the entire time, desperate to know who she would choose. I was quite happy with the ending. (My choice won.)

My only criticism is that I feel we could have seen a bit more from Erica in the middle of the book. I don’t want to give spoilers, so I won’t get into the how’s and why’s. It feels almost like Erica is a bit “out of sight, out of mind”, and I would have loved to experience those comparisons and those heart-aching realizations alongside Blaire.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed. It was a wonderful, short read that I would certainly recommend to anyone looking to unwind with a “sweet and sexy romance”. I am greatly looking forward to seeing more from this author.
