You heard that right! I have a Patreon!
Let me tell you, I have never felt more nauseous while setting something up in my entire life! I was little more than an anxiety puddle. Clicky-clacking away while my heart threatened to beat straight out through my ears.
But, I survived it! Just as I’m sure I’m going to survive writing this blog! At least, I hope. My heart is going a million miles a minute.
First, I should probably get into why.
Why did I make a Patreon?
For a few reasons. The first and most pressing is Vella. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’d know that a few weeks ago I posted a blog about whether or not I thought Vella was worth it. My feelings are still the same. I do thoroughly enjoy producing episodic content. I love the engagement, I love the play-by-play I get from my readers. Unfortunately, the bulk of my… regular? loyal? faithful? committed? (what word should I use here?) readers are not in the US. Amazon has a rather strict exclusivity clause. While I would love to share Vella on my blog, I am prohibited from sharing that work for free.
And that’s where Patreon comes in.
With it being behind a paywall, I can release Grim Tide to everyone, regardless of where they are in the world! I’m proud of that story, and cannot stop gushing about it. I want to share it — I’m a perpetual five-year-old, thrusting a finger-painting at everyone.
The next reason is, frankly, ambition/monetary stability. There are so many things I want to do. But, unfortunately, I don’t have the time. Between working full time, writing, editing (because, yes, I self-edit), creating my cover art, formatting my books, promoting/advertising, running this blog, updating Vella, reading/writing reviews etc., I have no time to do the other things I want to do. I’ve been wanting to start a podcast from the beginning of this journey. I’ve been wanting to outsource a lot of the work so that I can focus more of my energy on creating. Unfortunately, I can’t justify outsourcing a lot of the work when I know how to do it myself without seeing enough returns to cover it.
Thirdly, community. Having a Patreon allows me to connect more easily with you guys. It helps me know what you guys like to see/read!

I am open to suggestions!
If there are tiers that fit between the ones I have listed that you’d like to see, let me know! And, if you’d like to see something else content-wise (maybe 10% more dog pictures), feel free to slide into my DMs!
Thank you, so, so much.
I am so incredibly excited to share this with you guys! Thank you for supporting me during this insane journey! Everything — every page read, every social media post shared, every sloth picture sent into my DMs makes this all so incredibly rewarding.
